Any investment not made through a regional center program is considered an EB5 direct investment. Direct investments include things like creating your own company, buying an existing company, and making investments in an existing company.

Direct investments usually require a higher minimum investment amount than indirect investments and more hands-on involvement from the investor.

The application costs $595 plus an additional $85 for biometrics services, which include fingerprinting, photographing, and a background check. The processing time for N-400 applications varies by USCIS location but takes an average of four to six months. Once the application is processed, applicants are required to attend an interview and pass an English language and U.S. civics test. If approved, the prospective citizen will receive a ceremony date, take the Oath of Allegiance, and receive their Certificate of Naturalization.
